Europe – EMA re-elected as chair of ICMRA from October 2022

The International Coalition of Medicines Regulatory Authorities (ICMRA) today elected Emer Cooke, Executive Director of EMA as chair for the next mandate which starts in October 2022. EMA has been the chair of ICMRA since 1 October 2019, and Ms Cooke took over leadership in November 2020.

Accepting her election, Ms Cooke thanked ICMRA members for their continued support and trust in her leadership: “I am proud to have been elected to chair ICMRA for a new term. The COVID-19 pandemic has shown the value of the ICMRA platform. It has allowed us, both to align priorities, and further strengthen our collaboration. I look forward to further developing our coalition to enhance future regulatory collaboration to protect public health together with all ICMRA members.”

Ms Cooke will be supported by vice chair Dr Yasuhiro Fujiwara, Chief Executive of the Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Agency (PMDA), Japan, who was re-elected today…
